OptimaSolar was founded by Wim Seijdel (born 1959), who has decades of experience in the secondment of technical staff. In 2015, as the demand for technical staff in the solar industry grew, Wim decided to explore the market more deeply, researching products and providers. His conclusion was clear: there was a real need for professionalization within the sector—a challenge he was ready to take on. This led to the creation of OptimaSolar!
Today, OptimaSolar focuses on marketing, sales, and after-sales services, with multiple assembly teams working on-site. The energy transition is driving businesses and individuals alike to become more sustainable. Solar energy, when combined with a home battery, Energy Management System (EMS), and potentially a charging station, air conditioning, or heat pump, offers an effective solution with immediate results.

For over 30 years, I have been working as an independent entrepreneur across various industries. Since 2015, I’ve also been active in the sustainability sector, which I find incredibly appealing. The technologies are advancing rapidly. Additionally, it’s truly rewarding, alongside my team, to provide people with solid, honest, and well-founded advice.
Especially in recent years, it has been quite a whirlwind. Despite the hard work, there must, of course, be time for family. I’ve been happily married to Helma for over 25 years, and we are proud parents of two children. What makes it even more special is that they, too, contribute to a sustainable Netherlands. My daughter Esmée is part of the OptimaSolar team, and my son Jules is studying water management in Middelburg.

Rardhy Martens
Since joining OptimaSolar in April 2023, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. It is a pleasure to work for such a family-owned company in the renewable energy sector. OptimaSolar places the customer at the heart of everything and focuses on bringing sustainable products of the highest quality to market.
In my role as Senior Internal Sales Representative, my tasks are highly varied. One day I’m busy scheduling appointments for our field staff, and the next, I’m assisting in the warehouse. Ensuring “safe working practices” is an important area of focus for me right now. I also provide customers with tailored advice over the phone. In short, there is no shortage of variety.
I live in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, and in my spare time, I enjoy walking and cycling. A year ago, our family grew with the addition of an energetic Labradoodle, which keeps me busy as well. Of course, I also enjoy a snack and a drink at one of the many restaurants or cozy terraces in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, nothing wrong with that!

Esmée Seijdel
It has been some time since I began working at OptimaSolar. Initially, my focus was on the company’s website and social media, which aligned perfectly with my Bachelor’s in Journalism and my Master’s in Business Communication and Digital Media. However, due to the growing demand for solar panels, I shifted my focus to planning and procurement. On a daily basis, I am responsible for coordinating solar installations and sourcing the right materials. Today, I still manage the planning and procurement department at OptimaSolar, though I haven’t completely let go of the digital media side. In fact, I truly enjoy being able to handle this aspect daily.
Seijdel? Yes, OptimaSolar is indeed owned by my father. A question I often get is: “How is it working with family?” Well, very well! What’s special about working with my father is that we complement and strengthen each other in many ways. I’m excited to see what the future holds for us in the energy transition in the coming years!

Is my roof actually suitable for solar panels?
Over 85% of roofs are suitable for solar panel installation. However, there are a few important factors to consider:
Slope angle: The angle should not exceed 60 degrees for optimal panel performance.
Roof covering: The type of roofing material matters; roofs made of reeds or zinc are not suitable for solar panels.
Roof orientation: The direction your roof faces plays a key role. North-facing roofs are generally not ideal since the number of panels needed to meet energy consumption would be too high, making it less cost-effective.
With these factors in mind, most roofs can accommodate solar panels, but a professional assessment is always recommended to ensure the best setup for your specific situation.
What is the lifespan of a solar installation?
To get straight to the point: high-quality solar panels typically last around 40 years. They’re built to withstand all sorts of weather conditions! Forty years is a pretty impressive lifespan compared to many other products. This longevity is largely thanks to the tough, tempered glass used in the panels. The product warranty can vary depending on the type of panel, ranging from 12 to 30 years, so it all depends on which solar panels you go for!
