The Mounting System: Mounting Rails for Solar Panels
Installing solar panels on a pitched roof involves four key components—one of which is the mounting rail. There are several brands offering mounting systems for sloped roofs, but at OptimaSolar, we use the ClickFit® Evo system from Dutch manufacturer Esdec—a trusted and high-quality choice.
Mounting Materials for Pitched Roofs
To securely install solar panels on pitched roofs, different components may be used, depending on the roof type. These include:
- Roof hooks
- Tension hooks
- Hanger bolts
- Corrugated sheets
- Mounting brackets
- Steel roof mounting profiles
What most pitched roofs have in common is the use of mounting rails, module clamps, and end caps. The exception is steel roofs, where panels are fixed directly without mounting rails.
Click Technology: ClickFit Evo Mounting Rail System
The ClickFit Evo system is a universal, lightweight, yet extremely strong solution for mounting solar panels. The mounting rail is attached directly to roof hooks or brackets using a self-aligning click connection, allowing for fast and secure installation.
Thanks to adjustable roof hooks, the mounting rail height can be fine-tuned, ensuring a perfectly level solar panel setup. Once the rails are in place, the solar panels are simply screwed on.

Vertical or Horizontal Installation
Solar panels on tile roofs can be mounted in either portrait (vertical) or landscape (horizontal) orientation.
- For portrait, mounting rails are laid horizontally.
- For landscape, rails are laid vertically.
The choice between the two usually depends on roof size, shape, and shading patterns.
Mounting Rails for All Roof Types
The ClickFit Evo mounting rails come in various lengths—from 1,188 mm to 6,838 mm. If longer rails are needed, we use seamless connectors—no screws required. The result is a clean, secure, and flexible system suitable for nearly all roof types.
Aesthetic Options: Black Components
We understand aesthetics matter. That’s why many components in the ClickFit Evo system are available in black, offering a sleek, uniform look on your roof.
Note: The mounting rails themselves are not black, but don’t worry—these are completely hidden behind the solar panels and won’t be visible.
