(Hybrid) Heat Pump and Making Your Home or Business More Sustainable

Heating your home or business premises is often still done with an HR combi boiler. Nowadays, there are various options to (partially) replace the central heating boiler. For example, you can opt for a hybrid heat pump. This option is always possible because the pump is installed alongside the current central heating boiler, and it works in conjunction with it. However, the heat pump runs on electricity. It is also possible to forgo the central heating boiler entirely and make your system more sustainable with a full heat pump. There are several types of heat pumps available, such as an air-source heat pump or a ground-source heat pump. OptimaSolar works with trusted partners to install heat pumps.

Heating and Cooling with an Air Conditioner

An air conditioner can also be considered an air-to-air heat pump since it can both cool and heat. You can quickly heat a room with an air conditioner, which are now much more energy-efficient, and you can also use them to cool in the summer. You can easily heat a specific room in your home or business premises without turning up the central heating. Think of your bedroom, study, or living room. The same applies to cooling specific rooms. If you want to heat the entire building, a heat pump is a better option. With an air conditioner, an outdoor unit must also be installed for each air conditioning unit. OptimaSolar works with trusted partners for air conditioner installation, so we can arrange this for you as well.

Sustainability with Solar Panels from OptimaSolar

The use of a heat pump and air conditioner ensures lower gas consumption, but how great would it be if you could power these devices with self-generated solar energy? That is truly sustainable! Solar panels can save you money on your energy bill. The requirements? A sturdy flat or sloping roof, and preferably as little shade as possible. A roof facing south is no longer absolutely necessary. These days, solar panels are often installed facing east-west, which is more future-proof. The generated energy is spread out over the day, which increases direct consumption. Additionally, people no longer have to pay VAT on solar panels. Every home or business has its own needs and preferences. Based on this, OptimaSolar creates a customized plan for solar panels on your roof.

Making Your Insulation More Sustainable

Once you’re working sustainably, you want to make sure the heat stays inside, for example. That’s why it’s a good idea to ensure you lose as little heat as possible and prevent the cold from entering. Consider roof insulation, cavity wall insulation, and floor insulation. Don’t forget that replacing your windows can also contribute to better insulation. HR++ glass or vacuum glass are great options. A well-insulated home keeps the heat inside during winter and outside during summer!

Points to Keep in Mind!

Not everything is possible for every home or business premises. As a tenant, you have more options for making your home or business premises more sustainable, but sometimes you’ll need to consider the landlord or the Owners’ Association (VvE). When there is a landlord, it’s important to know that they are responsible for making the home or business more energy-efficient. You can’t do anything yourself in this area, except for inspiring the landlord to take action. This might include insulation, solar panels, or a heat pump. Be cautious, as any rent increase should not exceed the amount you save from the improvements.

The Owners’ Association (VvE) decides on the maintenance and sustainability of the building. However, there are a few things you can do yourself to make your home more sustainable, such as replacing glass in the frames or opting for energy-efficient appliances. The possibilities are limited. If the VvE joins forces, much more can be done, such as installing solar panels, solar collectors, and heat pumps. There are even subsidies available for apartment complexes. Read about them here!

Financing Your Sustainable Home or Business

The government offers various options for making your home or business more sustainable. For individuals, the Energy Saving Loan from the National Heat Fund is a great option. Additionally, financing for solar panels can also be arranged through a mortgage loan. For businesses, the SDE++ scheme is available. While applications for 2023 are closed, they will reopen in 2024. You can learn more about these financing options for both private and business markets here!
