Reconnecting the Solis Wi-Fi stick: a step-by-step guide

Inverters
Esmée 3 minutes

Monitoring your solar panels gives you insight into your system’s performance and helps you get the most out of your installation. It is therefore important to check your monitoring regularly. If you only discover a fault after a long time, this can often affect your energy yield. In this blog, we explain step by step what you need to do to connect your Solis Wi-Fi stick.

Firstly, it is important to check whether the Solis inverter itself is working properly. You can easily see this on the display: if it says ‘generating’, the inverter is running and electricity is being produced. You will also see the current power output in watts here.

Please note: in the evening or in extremely cloudy conditions, the inverter will switch off automatically. In that case, the lights will not be on and it will temporarily not be possible to reconnect the Wi-Fi stick.

Step-by-step guide to connecting the Solis Wi-Fi stick

If you have a new router or your Wi-Fi password has changed, the Solis Wi-Fi stick must be reconnected via the SolisCloud app. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the SolisCloud app – Launch the app on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Go to your installation – Tap ‘Installation’ at the bottom of the menu bar and select your installation, for example, Janssen.
  3. Open the data logger – Tap ‘Device SN’ at the top, select ‘Data Logger’, and tap the data logger itself. There are three dots in the top right-hand corner; tap these and select ‘WiFi Configuration’.
  4. Start the configuration – Click “Next”, then “Browser configuration”. If the serial number appears immediately, click the right-hand arrow to let the Solis inverter search for Wi-Fi networks on your phone.
  5. Check the light – Make sure the left-hand light on the Wi-Fi stick is flashing. Not flashing? Press and hold the reset button on the back for 10 seconds. Click “It’s flashing” in the app as soon as the light starts flashing.
  6. Go to your Wi-Fi settings – Click on “Solis…” in the app. You will be taken to your Wi-Fi settings. Temporarily switch off your 4G or mobile network.
  7. Connecting to the Solis Wi-Fi – Search for “Solis…” in the Wi-Fi networks, click on it, and enter the password 123456789. Make sure the connection is established. Tip: Can’t see the network? Press the button on the Wi-Fi stick at least three times, with short pauses of 20 seconds between each press. Sometimes this needs to be repeated several times.
  8. Open the browser configuration – Open a browser on your phone and go to 10.10.100.254.
  9. Log in – Log in with the username admin and password 123456789.
  10. Quick Set menu – You’ll see an orange and white menu. Click “Quick Set” on the left.
  11. Find your Wi-Fi network – Click “Search” at the top and select your Wi-Fi network.
  12. Enter password – Enter the Wi-Fi password and click “Save” at the bottom.
  13. Check connection – Wait a few minutes for the connection to be established. Sometimes it helps to close the app completely and reopen it.
  14. Checking online status – Go to Installation → Device SN → Data Logger. It should say “1 minute ago” or “Online”. If so, the Solis Wi-Fi stick is successfully connected.

Extra tips for optimal monitoring

Check your SolisCloud app regularly to see if the inverter is generating power. Also, ensure your Wi-Fi router is stable and that the network does not switch channels or frequencies too frequently. If necessary, you can install additional Wi-Fi repeaters to ensure a reliable connection. With these tips, you can be sure that your Solis monitoring is working correctly again and that your yield remains optimal.
