The possibilities for zero export with your solar panelsĀ

With many solar panel systems, you can configure them so that no energy is fed back into the grid. This zero-export option immediately reduces your feed-in costs and can also be beneficial in 2027. Whether this is suitable for your situation depends on your energy contract and the type of system. Usually, an adjustment in the fuse box is required to activate zero export mode, and this varies by brand.Ā 

Enphase micro-inverters and Envoy for zero exportĀ 

To use the zero-export function with Enphase solar panels, an Envoy S-Metered monitoring unit is required. In addition, CT coils must be installed in the fuse box. Two coils are needed for a single-phase main connection and six for a three-phase main connection.Ā 

The coils measure both the solar panel production and household energy consumption, making it possible to set the export to the electricity grid to zero or to limit the solar panels from producing above a certain capacity. A software adjustment is also required.Ā 

APsystems micro inverters and ECU-CĀ 

The zero-export system of APsystems solar panels works similarly to that of Enphase. The number of CT coils is the same, but the monitoring unit differs: APsystems requires an ECU-C. With this unit and the APsystems CT coils, both solar panel production and household energy consumption can be measured. The zero-export function must then be activated via software.Ā 

SolarEdge optimizers and Inline MeterĀ 

Do you have a SolarEdge inverter with optimizers? Then you need a SolarEdge Inline Meter, available for both single-phase and three-phase systems. Communication with the inverter is wireless, so no data cable is required to the fuse box. With SolarEdge, the zero-export function must also be activated via software.Ā 

Solis and smart meter for zero exportĀ 

With a Solis inverter, it works slightly differently. A meter must be installed in the main fuse box. Each Solis string inverter can be equipped with a meter or CT coils. This requires a data cable, which must be installed between the inverter and the meter in the fuse box.Ā 

Universal solution for solar panels and zero-exportĀ 

Another option is Currentt’s Local Energy Management System (LEMS). With the Currentt Navigator in your fuse box, you can efficiently control devices such as solar panel inverters, heat pumps, home batteries, electric car chargers, and air conditioners from different brands. This system offers more possibilities than traditional meters and is ideal for achieving a zero-export function and improving efficiency across multiple devices.Ā

Whether you choose Enphase, APsystems, SolarEdge, Solis, or a universal solution like Currentt’s Local Energy Management System, with the right meter or CT coils and software settings, you can maximize your solar panel output and reduce your feed-in costs. This allows you to efficiently use your own generated energy, minimize export to the grid, and benefit from a smart and future-proof energy supply at home.Ā 

Important to know: if you choose a battery system from the same brand as your solar panels, you will need the corresponding coils or meter anyway.Ā
