What does a guarantee fund add?

Solar Panels

Unfortunately, several solar energy installation providers have recently gone bankrupt. Many of these companies asked their customers for down payments, but in the event of bankruptcy, those down payments are lost. The customer receives nothing and must write off the paid down payment. This is certainly a bad situation.

In response, various parties have set up Guarantee Funds. These funds protect down payments and support customers in the event of technical issues, such as warranty claims. At OptimaSolar, we have been invited to participate in such a fund, but we do not see any added value for our customers in doing so.

Here are several reasons why:

  • We have never asked for down payments for standard solar installations. Our motto is “perform first, then invoice.” Our customers receive an invoice after delivery, requesting payment at that time.

  • The term of technical support and warranty claims is a maximum of ten years, which aligns with the manufacturer’s warranty period. For many of the products we install, the warranty period is even 15 to 30 years!

  • In the event of technical faults, we address them immediately and ensure a suitable, quick solution.

  • Finally, thanks to our long track record and the high level of expertise we’ve built up, customers receive a reliable and expertly installed system.

Guarantees for guarantee funds

Of course, every guarantee fund needs income to finance everything. For example, every installer is asked to contribute. On the other hand, customers may be asked to pay additional compensation if they want an upgrade to services or securities. But what happens if the total damage exceeds the capacity of the guarantee fund? Some funds have only a few dozen participants, and unfortunately, there is no guarantee fund for the guarantee funds…

We hope this brief explanation provides more clarity. Of course, feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our working methods.
